A space for slowing down, looking closely, and thinking deeply about early years practice.
The Hundred began with a simple observation.
Some of the most meaningful moments in early childhood are also the easiest to overlook.
Not because they are extraordinary.
But because they happen every day.
A question. A conversation. A mark left on paper. A material used in an unexpected way. A quiet moment between children.
These moments often disappear as quickly as they arrive.
Yet they often reveal how children learn, think and make sense of the world.
The Hundred exists to slow down, notice these moments, and think about what they might be telling us.
Slowing down enough to notice what is already there.

I’m Joanna Huang, an early childhood educator and the founder of The Hundred.
Over the past 13 years, I have worked with children and educators across different settings in China and the UK. My experience has included teaching, atelier practice, curriculum leadership, professional learning and pedagogical support.
My work is grounded in close observation of children’s thinking and in helping educators use what they notice to make more thoughtful decisions about curriculum, documentation and learning environments. Alongside my work in settings, I have shared my practice through guest sessions with universities, professional events and published writing.
The Hundred brings these different strands together. It is a space for writing, documentation and reflection, and for continuing thoughtful conversations about early years practice with other educators.
